Celebrating Culture Through Dance
My Journey to Victory

Hi everyone,

I’m Freya Prajapati, a Kathak dancer who finds joy in sharing India’s cultural heritage through dance. Recently, I had the honor of winning first place in the Solo Folk Dance category at the national-level All India Artist’s Association competition in Shimla. I performed the Chirmi folk dance, a beautiful and challenging tradition from Rajasthan.

One of the most memorable parts of my performance was balancing a pot on my head while standing on a small dish. I also included the intricate move of picking up a piece of cloth from a glass using my mouth. Both steps required a lot of practice, focus, and patience, but they made my performance stand out.

This dance not only tested my balance and skills but also gave me a deeper appreciation for the rich traditions of Rajasthan. Performing it felt like a celebration of our culture, and I was proud to represent it on such a prestigious platform.

I am deeply thankful to my teachers, Rakesh Sir and Shreya Ma’am, for their guidance and encouragement, and to my parents for always supporting my dreams. Their belief in me gave me the confidence to perform and succeed.

Winning this award has motivated me to continue exploring and sharing Indian folk dances. To all the aspiring dancers out there, keep practicing, embrace your culture, and never stop learning!

Thank you for being part of my journey. Let’s keep celebrating our traditions through dance!
